Lex Timeline   Four Friends Season 1 part 2 Part 1 Part 3   S2 S3 S4 S5
Lex and his new protégé, KC - Ep.23
When Trudy leaves the Mall with Dal at the end of episode 22, KC happens to be lurking in shrubbery near the sewer exit. He goes in the way they came out. For a while he thieves at will, taking peoples' belongings without drawing any suspicion or attention.

It is Lex who catches him red-handed. He frog-marches KC up the stairs to the Café. There his bag is turned out and people suggest punishments. Jack is all for cutting KC's hand off. Surprisingly Lex invites KC to join the tribe and most of the Mallrats half-heartedly vote him in.

Lex and Zandra: off - on - off....on
Zandra has begun to notice how much time Lex is spending with Tai-San. Ryan assures her that it's only to make her jealous. Well two can play that game. Tai-San starts to use Ryan in her own game of let's-make-Lex-jealous.

Tai-San is to sleep with Lex on one more occasion before realizing that Lex has so much negative energy, no amount of therapy will cure him. She says sex isn't a reward for being good, nor a permanent treatment for being bad.

Having reached the end of the road with Tai-San, Lex decides his only option is to make it up with Zandra.
Presents, flattery, a little honesty about what happened with Ebony. Zandra is soon won over and Lex is back on track.

In the Café Zandra virtually apologizes to Tai-San, admitting she has been acting like a jealous cow. She now realizes there was nothing going on with Lex. Tai-San readily agrees, and casually tells her that she slept with Lex only twice! They have a fight!

Zandra is heartbroken. What makes things even worse is that Ryan admits he knew all along about Lex and Tai-San. She asks Ryan to redeem himself by finding Lex.
Lex lies low, skulking in the sewers to avoid Zandra, with KC his only friend. Ryan finds him and orders him to face Zandra (or else). She agrees to take him back on one condition - that he dumps Tai-San to her face and with Zandra there to watch. This he does, though it hurts him to do it. Next, Zandra sets Lex a test of his love. He must find her a wedding ring. With no chance of finding a genuine old-style ring, Lex uses some ingenuity and makes one from copper wire he finds in Jack's workshop. This is a vital part of the wind turbine project and nearly costs lives in the near future.
Sleeping in the same room, but not together - Ep.27
As a reward, but also as a test of Lex's self-control and true love, Zandra agrees to move into the boutique, but rules out sleeping with him. This means Ryan has to move out and Zandra is the one to tell him, diplomatically, without hurting his feelings. We are not told where Ryan spends the night. The following morning Zandra brings Lex breakfast in bed as a further reward for his respecting her feelings on the sex issue.

The Tribal Gathering - Ep.28-29
The Mallrats first hear about the Tribal Gathering from Trudy, who heard about it from the Nomads. Lex fears it must be a setup, the more so because Ebony is the one organizing it. Bray visits Ebony to find out more and sees the event as a real opportunity for the tribes to make peace. Tai-San appoints herself as competitor in the dance competition. Bray and Amber soon realize that Jack's wind turbine offering unlimited power to charge batteries is the Mallrats' only trade commodity. And as we know, Lex has already sabotaged that project, albeit out of ignorance, when making Zandra's 'ring'.

Lex's warnings and reservations aside, the Mallrats arrive at the Gathering with high hopes. But almost from the start things start to go wrong.
Number one source of trouble is Glen. Glen and a bunch of Locos pick Lex off when he is looking for KC and beat him up severely, leaving him for dead. Fortunately Zandra finds him. Meanwhile KC recognizes Dal among a bunch of slaves to be sold and races back to tell Amber. Amber loses a deal with Ebony and becomes a slave herself. Glen smashes Jack's wind turbine.

Lex comes into his own and starts a riot while Ryan sets Amber, Dal and Sasha free. In the chaos the Mallrats sneak away and back to the Mall.

The Farmgirls - Ep.32
With Dal back on Jack's wind turbine project, progress is rapid. Soon every battery in the area is brought to the Mall and charged. Wedding plans are back on the agenda. With only two days to go Zandra longs for a real banquet with fresh food. Lex suggests killing one of Cloe's chickens. Sasha has a brilliant idea: why not find a farm and trade for food with batteries?
Despite having gone into a sulk because it was Sasha's idea, not his, Bray joins Jack and Dal, and Sasha himself stays at the Mall.

And without Bray to negotiate, and be nice to people, it is quite likely that Alice would have carried out her threat to feed Lex to the pigs! Lex doesn't know how to get on the right side of people at all.

The boys come away with a small pig, loads of fresh vegetables, and 2 gallons of cider.

The girls' party is a civilized affair. Theirs is the pig and vegetables.

The boys' party is of the liquid kind, with an informal competition as to who can drink the fastest, followed by a roller-blade race round the Mall between Dal and KC. The crazy 'fun' comes to an end when KC collides with Jack and breaks his leg.

The Wedding - Ep.33
With so much bad feeling between Zandra and Tai-San, Tai-San isn't asked to do the ceremony the second time around. Amber gets the job, though Tai-San has made the ceremonial outfit.

To say Lex and Zandra's vows are minimalist is an understatement. The simple fact is that Ryan wrote them and Lex didn't bother to memorize them. Zandra makes her vows exactly the same: And I vow the same to you. Which wasn't much.

Return of Nasty Lex. A dark cloud descends on the Mall - Ep.34-36
Zandra's marriage to Lex ends all Ryan's hopes of ever winning her. He leaves the Mall to make a new life for himself. But Lex doesn't know this, and shouts his breakfast orders to Ryan. His shouts become ever more threatening as the day goes on.

Jack's leg is broken so he is out of the frame. Tai-San applies a splint and some ointment.

Salene has also left the Mall, driven by her food cravings into the ruthless clutches of Dirk and Roanne.

Amber has gone off with Sasha, and Bray sits around, sulky and useless.

Trudy does her best to look after Brady and keep the place tidy, but with Lex and KC around, hers is a losing battle.

Cloe and Patsy feel it the most. The atmosphere in the Mall is palpably awful. In tears they are resigned to finding another tribe, somewhere where they will feel wanted.

The second morning Lex insists it is Zandra's turn to make a meal. He provides her with a chicken to cook - and it's Henrietta, Cloe's favorite.

Amber returns to the Mall with Sasha to say good-bye. Cloe and Patsy head for the Lingerie store to find Lex. Maybe he can stop Amber going? He offers them some cooked Henrietta!

They scream and run back to Amber in the café.

Ryan and Salene come back, and Salene admits she was the food thief. Trudy begs Amber not to go.

Amber's mind is made up, and she leaves the Mall. But when it comes to it, thinking of everyone who depends on her, Amber kisses Sasha one last time and turns back.

Lex frames Bray - falsely accusing him of hoarding water - Ep.38-39
Amber might have returned to the Mall, but her heart is still with Sasha. She spends most of her time alone, thinking about him and what might have been.

Bray covers for her, doing as best he can to make the Mall run smoothly. The way Lex sees it, Bray is on a power trip, and steps up his own bid to oust both Bray and Amber and become sole leader himself. He takes KC into his confidence, waking him up in the early hours to tell him about his plan.

Lex seizes his opportunity when Bray organizes a complete makeover for the Mall. Since this involves pots of paint, and brushes, Lex turns the event into an all-out paint fight. It's fun! Everyone has a good time and lets off steam. Meanwhile KC knows what to do.

Lex wakes KC and takes him aside so
as not to disturb Ryan.
They hatch a plot to bring Bray down.
With the paint-fight in full spate, KC heads for the boutique (which he shares with Ryan) and retrieves some bottles of water taken from Lex's stash in the Service Area. Quickly he heads for Bray's room (Headspace) and plants them under the counter. Then he co-opts Cloe to help him do some cleaning - just like Amber's roster says. They start in Bray's room where Cloe finds the stolen water.
The lead-up to the trial sees Lex at his nastiest. He uses Zandra to persuade Ryan to keep quiet. He threatens Jack with a second broken leg. Bray doesn't stand a chance and decides to leave the Mall even before the verdict. Finally Jack cannot fight his conscience any longer and comes forward. At the last minute KC confesses all to protect Lex.

Bray is all for having KC thrown out. That way he hopes to force Lex to admit he was behind the entire plot.

The trial disintegrates when Patsy brings in an old man - it's Glen, soon to die from the virus.

Lex and Patsy go into voluntary isolation - Ep.40
Glen sneezes before collapsing in Lex's arms. Lex lowers him gently to the floor. It doesn't take Bray and Amber long to work out all they need to know. Glen has the virus and both Lex and Patsy have had close contact with him. Lex and Patsy must be put in quarantine to protect everyone else. Patsy is put in the Leather shop, and Lex is isolated next to her in Lingerie, until now the room he shared with Zandra.

But Cloe finds that she misses her friend too much to care about the virus. She shocks everyone by bringing her out, then hugging her in front of everyone.
Cloe's devil-may-care bravery sets the trend. Everyone hugs Patsy. Then Zandra fetches Lex. Like it or not, they are all in this together, and they need answers - soon.
Search for Answers - Ep.41-43
In the Café Bray presents some ideas to start finding answers. To beat the virus before it beats them. There will be two teams: Bray and Amber will search the Health Ministry. Lex and Dal will visit the offices of The Daily Times Newspaper.
Dal finds a pile of recent editions and gives Lex half of them to search through for anything interesting. The problem is that Lex can't read but won't admit it. But Dal's a smart kid and soon understands the problem. Lex is furious, threatening to break every bone in Dal's body if he tells anyone. This to Lex is more important than saving mankind.

Dal finds a government memo censoring one of the articles. It concerns the Pandorax company. Lex hasn't heard of Pandorax, isn't interested, and is utterly bored.

Dal draws a blank and they head back to the Mall.
When they get back, Glen has already died. They take time out to burn his body on some open ground.

At the end of the day Dal compares notes with Amber. Only then do they they realize they have both come across the name Pandorax. Amber found it linked with a project on Hope Island. An expedition there is organized immediately, and they set off the following morning: Lex, Bray, Amber, Dal, and Bob.
Before anyone actually gets blown up, they discover they are in a minefield. Dal spots a mine close by Lex's boot. Bray and Dal clear a path, revealing all the mines, all the way to the gate. Lex watches with Amber until the job's done.

Inside the building Dal finds an ID card around the neck of a skeleton. Outside, he and Bray start the generator. With all the systems running, Dal uses the ID card to gain entry to the bio-lab. They find some samples, possibly of the antidote, but Dal's attempts to access the computer files without a password creates a security alert. The door is secured automatically and soon they will run out of air.

With time running out, Dal suggests blowing the system. As Bray shorts the power out, the door briefly opens a little. Lex wedges himself in the gap, and everyone gets out safely.
