Amber soon works out that Glen has the virus,
and that both Patsy and Lex must both be isolated from everyone
else to prevent spread of infection.
Patsy is angry with Glen. She thought he was a genuine adult.
Cloe needs some persuading not to touch or go near to her. Patsy
retreats into the Leather store, taking with her her her only
companion, a teddy-bear from Cloe. |
|
|
Later, Cloe shows Patsy their new pet, a piglet
she has named "Porky", brought back to the Mall by
Salene and Ryan. They 'touch hands' on either side of window. |
|
|
The Virus has suddenly become a real and present threat,
no longer just something that happened to the adults in the recent
past. Amber and Bray take the initiative. The Mallrats will search
for information about how the Virus started. |
Breaking
Quarantine - Ep.40 |
The Mallrats are a little shocked when Cloe appears
on the balcony with Patsy and hugs her. Cloe's explanation is simple.
She loves Patsy so much she can't get along without her. If she has
the Virus, then she wants to have it too. Salene joins them. She agrees
with Cloe, this is not a problem they can shut away in quarantine.
They must face it together. Salene brings the two girls down and everyone
hugs Patsy. |
Following Cloe's lead, Zandra brings Lex to the
balcony, and KC takes it from there. The Mallrats form a circle.
The infighting that was threatening to break the Tribe apart
has given way to a spirit of unity, their vision now set on
beating the Virus. |
|
|
Lex, Dal, Bray, Amber and KC search the local
newspaper office and the government health ministry between
them. The information they bring back will lead them to a top-secret
project that was taking place on Hope Island. Even while they
are away, Glen dies. Tai-San takes Patsy and Cloe aside to break
the sad news. |
|
|
The Mallrats cremate Glen's body. Everyone is
there except Cloe and Trudy, who stay behind to look after Brady. |
|
|
Bray, Amber, Lex and Dal leave for Hope Island.
Tai-San forms a circle to send them some 'positive energy',
though Jack scoffs at the idea as usual, and KC careens into
them on a skateboard. To break the circle is very bad karma! |

KC
takes Cloe to the Casino - Ep.43-44 |
With the leaders away, KC gets up to no good
in the City. There's a Casino near the train station run by
Tribe Circus, and when KC trades a heap of good batteries (stolen
from Jack) for gambling chips, then loses them all at poker
and complains to the manager that a certain girl has been cheating,
that's the very way to land yourself in trouble. KC promises
he'll be back. |
|
|
When KC gets back to the Mall, his plan is to
steal more batteries from Jack's workshop. There he runs into
a problem - Jack is there! Plan B, something else to trade.
KC heads for the storeroom near the sewers where Porky is kept.
Another problem: Cloe spots him. She starts asking awkward questions
like, where has he been and why does he need Porky? Cloe doesn't
trust KC's story that he is taking Porky for a walk and insists
on going with him. |
|
|
KC gets 400 credits for Porky, half what he expected.
Cloe is horrified, she had no idea KC was going to sell it.
Unfortunately it's now too late to do anything about it. KC
convinces Cloe he can win Porky back at the Poker table. |
|
|
|
|
KC gets onto a winning streak, but doesn't know
when to quit. When they have enough to buy Porky back KC plays
on, and loses practically everything. Cloe takes matters into
her own hands, taking what's left to the roulette table. She
plays into the night.
Cloe makes a fortune, easily enough to get Porky back. When
she wakes KC he wants to put her winning back into poker! Cloe
won't hear of it, all she wants is Porky. |
|
|
Unfortunately, this Casino won't do refunds.
At KC's signal, they both throw their chips into the air. In
the mad scramble that follows, Cloe retrieves Porky and heads
for the Mall. KC isn't so lucky. |
|
|
Cloe gets back to the Mall totally out of breath,
with a story about Porky, chips, poker and roulette. It doesn't
make total sense, and Ryan is satisfied that KC can look after
himself. Besides, there are far more important things going
on right now... |
|
|
When the Hope Island expedition returned, Lex
had shown the first symptoms of the Virus within hours. Luckily
they brought back some samples, possibly it's the Antidote,
but Lex refuses to try it.
Lex asks Tai-San for advice. She sets him on a spiritual path
where honesty and truth are paramount. Lex apologizes to everyone
in turn for past wrongs.
Lex apologizes to Patsy and Cloe, in particular for killing
their chicken. They both forgive him. |
|
|
Lex leaves the Mall, punishing himself with self-imposed
exile. Once he has gone, the Mallrats finally wake up to the
danger that KC has put the Mallrats in. Bray calls a council
of war, and at last Cloe tells all she knows. Bray is certain
the casino was in Tribe Circus territory. Their leader, Top-Hat
is a psycho. The Mallrats get ready for an attack.
Meanwhile in the City, Lex has already spotted KC being forced
to lead Top-Hat to the Mall. |
|
|
Tribe
Circus Invasion - Ep.46 |
As expected, Tribe Circus arrive at the Mall.
Top-Hat spots the security camera and waves. Then KC is made
to show them the way in through the sewers.
Cloe and Patsy are hidden and locked in the Market lift cage
for their own safety, together with the animals. Already it
is becoming smelly.
Believing they can be more useful outside than in, they break
out of the cage. Positioning themselves at the top of the stairs
with CO2 extinguishers, the thick clouds make quite
an impact, but soon their cylinders are empty, and Tribe Circus
resume their assault. |
|
|
|
|
The Mallrats put up a good fight, but they are
simply outnumbered. Eventually they run out of booby traps and
energy. Tribe Circus have taken the Mall and the Mallrats are
made to pledge their allegiance to Top-Hat.
After a Victory Feast, Top-Hat drags Zandra to the nearest bed.
This is too much for KC, the only male to have stayed out of
trouble and not get locked behind the grille. After climbing
a rope to the balcony, KC pulls Top-Hat off Zandra and kicks
him hard where it hurts.
Tribe Circus leave the Mall. The Mallrats cannot survive long
with a raging fire just the other side of the grille. |
|
|
Lex at last persuades Ebony to help. The Mallrats
never thought they would be glad to see the Locos. But there's
a catch: Ebony wants just one thing - the Antidote samples from
Hope Island. These she takes, plus Lex and Bray as hostages.

Eagle
Mountain - Ep.51-52 |
The Antidote might have been stolen by Ebony,
but Jack still has the computer files from Hope Island. After
working round the clock with Dal, Jack wakes everyone to announce
an important discovery. They have seen the same map reference
in many files. It is the location of Eagle Mountain. Jack believes
they must all go there.
Eagle Mountain is 30 miles away. Jack doesn't even know what's
there, so it's out of the question.
The following day Tai-San reports a dream, about an Eagle and
a mountain. |
|
|
Next day the Mallrats set out. Patsy and Cloe insist
that even the animals should go. |
|
|
Just outside the City, the Mallrats encounter
a manned barricade. The reason they give is to prevent plague-carrying
City dwellers from spreading disease beyond the City. Bray arrives
in a Ebony's bus! After a rebellion led by Spike, she is no
longer queen of the Locos.
After the Mallrats are on board, Bray drives the bus straight
through the barricade. |
|
|
The bus breaks down about halfway to the Mountain,
and the rest of the journey is made on food with the help of
Tai-San's 'spiritual navigation'. |
|
|
What lies on the crest of Eagle Mountain is a
satellite tracking station. Jack and Dal are able to switch
it on, but they are none the wiser. But then a certain satellite
passes overhead. The station tracks it and relays an important
message. This message, together with computer files that Jack
downloads, will change the lives of everyone in Tribeworld.
There is a supply of Antidote somewhere in the City. |
