The
Tribal Gathering - Ep.28-29 |
Salene and Patsy stay behind at the Mall to help
Trudy look after Brady. Salene still feels utterly wretched
for having left Trudy to die, when Trudy is now being so nice
to her.
At times like this, Salene needs to find food, binge, then throw
it all up. Salene suffers from Bulimia.
But Patsy knows nothing about Bulimia. She finds Salene in the
sewers, throwing up. Her first thought is Salene must be really
sick. Salene asks her to keep it secret. |
|
|
|
|
Out of concern for Salene, Patsy tells Trudy
anyway. Salene is at first angry at Patsy, then defensive and
aggressive toward Trudy.
Trudy assumes that Salene is pregnant with Bray's baby. She
tries again, saying she has no hard feelings. Salene has lost
much of her anger except with herself. She tells Trudy about
her Bulimia. |
|
|
The other Mallrats return from the Tribal Gathering.
Trudy is delighted to see her friend Dal once again. But the mood
is somber. It turns out that instead of making peace they were instrumental
in causing a riot. They were lucky to get out alive. They also came
back with a stranger, Sasha. |
The
Food Thief - Ep.30-36 |
|
|
To celebrate their safe return, Zandra proposes
breaking out the chocolate bars. But when Amber goes to the
food store, she finds most of them are gone. Lex and Ryan conduct
a room search, but nothing is found. Amber promises that the
guilty person will be put on trial. Only Trudy has a good idea
who is responsible. The guilt written in Salene's return gaze
confirms her suspicions.
Salene promises Trudy it won't happen again. Trudy gives her
the benefit of the doubt and a hug. |
|
|
Salene cannot keep to her promise, and when Amber
checks the food store again, several cans are missing.
Amber calls a meeting, and appeals for the thief to talk things
over with her before sundown.
Salene retreats to her room miserable. Trudy resents being put
on the spot and feels let down, and guilty by association. She
decides to give Trudy one more chance to own up. Salene can't
face Amber and promises one more time it won't happen again. |
|
|
|
|
Despite her promises, Salene continues to steal food.
Amber puts a large padlock on the food store. Even so, Trudy still
finds Salene throwing up in the Sewers, and at such times, Salene
becomes aggressive, resenting Trudy's attempts to help her.
Salene's craving for food escalates. On her wedding day, Zandra finds
a very special necklace (her grandmother's) missing. In fact Salene
has stolen it to trade for food at a trading post she discovered by
following Bray one day. Fortunately, the necklace is declared worthless,
and Salene brings it back, leaving it for Dal to find. |
After the wedding the Mall descends into Chaos.
Ryan leaves the Mall because he can never have Zandra. Salene
heads for the trading post to beg for food, and becomes their
prisoner, or "white slave". Amber and Sasha take time
out for two or three days on the beach. Bray sulks in his room
over Amber. Jack's leg is broken. Patsy and Cloe are utterly
miserable because there is no one to look after them.
If anyone is going to clean the place up, Trudy will have to
do it on her own. |
|
|
|
|
On the second day Trudy finds rats in the Café.
When she tells Bray about it he refuses to help, or even to
look after Brady while she does the work.
Tai-San doesn't help either. She takes Patsy and Cloe off her
hands to do some "energy clearing" but that's all.
To add insult to injury, she overhears Tai-San talking about
Trudy's "negative energy".
Having cleaned the Café without any help, Trudy tackles
downstairs, and the mess left after the wedding. Then returning
to the Café she finds it totally trashed again, the handiwork
of Lex and KC trying to cook. |
|
|
Amber and Sasha return to say good-bye. Ryan and Salene
return together, and Salene owns up to being the food thief. This
is such a weight of Trudy's mind. Trudy explains that Salene suffers
from Bulimia. People are very understanding. In the event, Amber cannot
bring herself to leave those who need her. Duty pulls one way, her
heart and Sasha pull the other. Amber sacrifices her love for Sasha,
and that is the last she will ever see him.
Things slowly return to normal, though Amber is very withdrawn. Bray
largely takes her place out of necessity, to keep everything running
smoothly. Lex resents Bray stepping into Amber's shoes and seeks a
way to have him thrown out. Plotting with KC he arranges for Cloe
to "find" water stashed away in Bray's room. In truth the
water came from Lex's secret stash, and KC planted it in Bray's room.
But with Lex bullying anyone who knows anything against supporting
Bray, the odds are stacked overwhelmingly against Bray. |
Bray
Framed. Glen. The Virus returns - Ep.38-44 |
Tai-San and Trudy don't believe that Bray stole
the water, and see Amber as the only one who can find the truth
and prevent Lex throwing Bray out. Reluctantly, and with no
real choice, Amber gets involved again in the everyday workings
of the tribe, asking questions, seeking answers, and getting
a general picture of what is going on.
Amber holds a trial and gets very close to pinning the blame
on Lex. In the end it's KC who takes the rap. Before Bray is
able to follow up on this, Patsy brings a very aged Glen to
the Mall. The Virus, almost a forgotten issue, becomes a very
real and present danger once more. |
|
|
Patsy and Lex are both placed in quarantine,
because they have had physical contact with Glen. But soon it
is felt this isn't the answer. What they need is answers, and
a cure. With Lex and Patsy no longer in isolation, the Mallrats
search for information in government and newspaper offices.
The internal jealousies and rivalries, that so threatened to
tear the Mallrats apart, give way to a feeling of unity.
Glen dies after a day or two and is cremated on open ground
in a ceremony conducted by Tai-San. Bray and KC decide to disinfect
the Mall. Trudy reads the label and is horrified: it's furniture
polish! |
|
|
The little information found so far about the Virus
leads the Mallrats to take a trip to Hope Island for more answers.
Unfortunately, while the leaders are away, KC gets into trouble at
the casino, and drags Cloe into the mess with him. Top-Hat, the psycho
leader of Tribe Circus, will want to question him. |
When the expedition returns they bring back samples
of what they hope is Antidote. When they learn that Tai-San
is sick, Lex insists she must try it out on herself. She refuses.
Lex then shows the first signs of being infected, and himself
refuses to take the Antidote. Trudy concludes that Tai-San has
nothing more than the 'flu, and insists that someone must test
the 'Antidote' to be sure it is safe for Brady. She stares toward
Ryan. Salene is outraged, why doesn't Trudy test it on herself?
Believing that he is dying, Lex apologizes to everyone he has
wronged in the past. Trudy is unimpressed. If he wants to do
something useful, he should test the Antidote on himself, for
Brady's sake. |
|
|
|
|
Lex leaves the Mall to pursue his spiritual path, and
hopefully find healing. It's Tai-San's wacky idea and Zandra has lost
all respect for him. |
With Lex gone, the Mallrats grow concerned over KC's
continued absence. Cloe has come back with a strange tale about KC,
a gambling den and her pig Porky. Ryan begins to think the Mall could
be in real danger. |
Ep.45: A Council of War has been called, to
discuss the probability that KC might give details about the Mallrats,
and bring his captors to the Mall. Trudy heads off to inform Bray.
Trudy finds Amber in bed with Bray. It's a bit of a shock. Her sarcastic
comments to Bray reveal that she still has feelings for him.
Trudy plays no part preparing for an attack by Tribe Circus. Her role
is solely to look after Brady. When the attack comes, the Mallrats
put up a valiant fight, but the outcome is a foregone conclusion.
Trudy is soon brought down to join the defeated Mallrats, and with
them to pledge allegiance to Top-Hat. |
|
The girls are ordered to prepare a Victory Feast
for their new masters. One of them molests Trudy, who in turn
hits him with a pan. When Top-Hat learns the details, he too
hits the guy with Trudy's pan! |
|
Following the Victory Feast, The Mallrat guys are locked
behind the grille, while the girls become fair game. Top-Hat tries
to rape Zandra. KC, the only Mallrat who has been lying low, unnoticed
and free, hears her screams and goes to help. A well aimed kick in
Top-Hat's groin saves Zandra, but brings swift vengeance on all the
Mallrats. Top-Hat traps all of them behind the grille, then sets fire
to a heap of furniture in front of it. |
|
|
While Lex was on the road pursuing his 'spiritual
path', he discovered that Tribe Circus was about to trash the
Mall and asked Ebony to help. In return, all he had to offer
her was the Antidote samples from Hope Island, in safe keeping
at the Mall.
When Lex and Ebony arrive, they soon extinguish the fire and
wind up the grille. Everyone is shocked to see how much Lex
has aged. Amber tries to prevent Ebony from stealing the Antidote,
but that's the only reason she came, and Ebony gets her way.
Before leaving with the Antidote, Ebony gives Trudy a real fright.
It seems she's always wanted a baby of her own, but not in the
usual, messy way. She thinks she might just take one, someone
else's. Ebony doesn't carry out her threat, but instead takes
Bray, just to spite Amber. Plus she takes Lex back to the Hotel
as a guinea pig to test the Antidote. |
|
|
Ebony has taken both Bray and Lex, and with Bray
gone Amber is totally dispirited. Everything she says and does
is negative, finding fault with everyone and everything. Trudy
alone puts a brave on it all, and organizes a grand cleanup.
Meanwhile Jack resumes his search for the Antidote formula.
Dal finds a radio controlled helicopter in the Service area
and allows KC to play with it.
The girls decide to sleep all together in the Furniture store,
just like when they first moved in to the Mall. Despite Tai-San
Feng-shuing the room, there's a most frightening sound, but
when the girls realize what it is, even Amber has to laugh! |
|
|
|
|
Next day Amber comes up with various harebrained
schemes to rescue Bray from the Hotel. Some are plain dangerous,
and Trudy tells her straight she needs to think things through.
Trudy is worried that Amber will do something really stupid
and get hurt.
Ryan and Dal have an idea to use the helicopter to fly a camcorder
over the Hotel to locate Bray and Lex. Amber lukewarmly agrees
to the plan. While they get their plan together, Lex returns
to the Mall looking older than ever. |
|
|
Ryan and Dal take the helicopter near the Hotel. There's
barely enough fuel for a single pass over the grounds before crashing
to the ground nearby. Three Locos rush to the scene and try to take
them, but Ryan and Dal escape with the camera. |
The pictures captured on camera distress Amber to the
core. Bray would appear to be having fun with Ebony. Trudy feels she
must fill in a few details: "Bray and Ebony had a thing once." |
Eagle
Mountain - Ep.50-52 |
Jack and Dal work on the Hope Island computer files
and come up with a Map reference to Eagle Mountain thirty miles away.
But no one is interested, until Tai-San has a dream that confirms
it.
The Mallrats get ready for the trip to Eagle Mountain. Everyone will
be going. Amber helps to strap Brady onto Trudy's back. What about
a note for Bray? Amber decides against it. In fact she never wants
to see him again. |
|
|
The Tribe is barely out of the Mall when someone
notices that Trudy is missing - has anyone seen her? Trudy turns
the corner towards them, almost running. She explains that she
forgot something. In fact she stayed behind to leave a message
for Bray.
At the Hotel Spike has been leading a rebellion against Ebony.
Bray helps her to escape to the Mall, but when they get there
it is deserted. Ebony finds Trudy's message.
It so happens that Ebony has a secret bus kept for emergencies.
With Bray driving they soon catch up with the Mallrats and take
them on board.
The bus breaks down long before they reach Eagle Mountain. Bray
doesn't understand why Amber has turned against him. Trudy apologizes
to Amber if any harm came from leaving the message for Bray. |
|
|
The Mallrats carry on by foot and at last reach
Eagle Mountain. On its summit is a satellite tracking station,
but no one understands how this might help them. It's the end
of the road for many as they make plans to leave the Mallrats.
Amber realizes that Bray has already gone and runs after him.
Lex sets matters straight, that Bray would never cheat on her,
and specially not with Ebony. They kiss and make up. The motors
of the satellite tracker kick in as a satellite passes in orbit
above. It carries a very important prerecorded message about
the Antidote... |
|
|
|
|
But then there's an explosion.
Zandra is killed and so too, apparently, is Amber. Bray mourns
for her, and is set on leaving the tribe to find his own path.
Trudy asks him to reconsider to no avail.
The remaining Mallrats begin the journey back
to the City without Bray. He stays with her a long time, before
finally saying good-bye, leaving her ring, her dad's ring she
gave him, on the grave with her.
Bray understands that Amber would have wanted
him to stay and lead the Mallrats. |
|
|
In Season 2, Bray finds a new girl,
Danni. The Mallrats find the Antidote formula, and supply the City,
thereby becoming the dominant tribe. But a new Zoot cult is rising,
called The Chosen. A few of them enter the City by stealth and kidnap
Brady.... |
