Season 2 Ep43. Jack is trying to tin
a couple wires. The first thing you learn about soldering is you always
heat the joint or wire and then apply the solder. If you're holding
some wire, and the iron, you need a third hand. An engineer might
use his teeth in a tight situation, but usually you'd plonk the reel
of solder somewhere convenient, with a few centimeters hanging in
the air, and offer the hot wires to the solder. Whichever method you
use, you need solder. And you never melt solder onto the iron, then
apply to the wire. That just doesn't work. Now, I'd expect Jack to
know this. So where's the reel of solder? |
